The Anniston Star: No sugar-coating here: Utah no match for Alabama | AnnistonStar.com

Weak article. Shows that anyone with a computer and blog access must now be a sports writer. I was hoping you'd have some basis for your opinions, but instead I read "heck", "wuss", and geographic reasoning as why one team should win over another? Amateur night at they keyboard, eh? Most concerning is that you are a professor at Utah State. Doesn't say much about the faculty does it?

By the way, when you say this: "As a professor at Utah State University, which never has a good football team, I feel qualified to comment as a disinterested party on the football fortunes of those farther south along the Wasatch Front and their desire to get noticed."

Qualified? I don't think so. Just because you are in the state, and your football team sucks, doesn't make you qualified to comment on all teams from Utah. Stay out of Utah's business if your just going to try to tear them down, because it is writers like you and reports like this that make them fired up so they can show you and every other sports writer in the country how Utah can play football.

    GO UTES!!

I expect an article with an apology stating that you were wrong if Utah shows up and plays Alabama competitively, regardless of if they win or lose. this is a pathetically bias article which was poorly written.

OK Big Fella', you "may" be right. But..., you may be wrong. And one thing about prognasticators, is they often look awefully foolish-having spoken too freely and too soon. You did indeed speak too freely and too soon, the question is will you look awefully foolish!#)&!&#!???
We and of course you, will very shortly see.

A future suggestion: Don't walk out the door, before you first put your pants on. It makes you look foolish!

I think the little piece at the end explains it all. You root for Nebraska so a team like Utah doesn't belong. You also mentioned something about teams from California not comparing to teams like your beloved Cornhuskers. I could use actually facts to disprove your statements. Facts like USC, who is from California had one of the greatest teams in college football history only a few years ago and is still one of the top 5 teams in the country. Or that Nebraska and its run-oriented system has not won anything for almost ten years, mostly because they can't pass. But hey you can live in your 1982 dreams of 3 yards and a cloud of dusk if you want. I, on the other hand will take my spread option and my undefeated Utes.

The article did start off well, I'll at least give you that much

"I can't buy into football teams coming from swanky places such as Los Angeles, San Diego and Miami."
Hello stupid professor, these big cities have a greater population which means more people are watching the football games which means a lot more money for coaches, equipment, scholarships, etc.
What do you teach up at your fake university. Interior design 101. You like to watch run-oriented football. HA, no team can run in the now. The defense's are too fast. Look what florida did to Alabama.

Hey Mr professor, So does that mean Ohio St is always worthy of going to the BCS. Can you say Overated. All of these BCS teams are overrated.

Wow. Professor(?) Sweeney. I know just about everyone forms opinions about the future outcome of football games--but bro! i would really hate to have such a poorly reasoned piece of literature posted on public domain with my name on it. I'm sorry i have to be the one to explain this to you, but good football teams are not a function of local geography. I'm also sorry i have to explain this....31-17
